The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative is a premier or flagship program of the Federal Ministry of Education designed and create to prepare equip young Nigerian people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
Through partnerships with certified training centers across the Nigeria country, the initiative provides tuition free training, monthly stipends, and start up support for selected trades in high demand sectors.

The Federal Government, via the Federal Ministry of Education, has declared that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Batch B will re open for registration in 2026, as the achieve is to train over nine hundred thousands (900,000) youths within the next two years. This will start after the completion of Batch A registration of 250,000 participants, are expected around March.
The Federal Government disclosed this update while responding to a released or publication circulating online that analyzed skills shortfall in Nigeria and Africa.
Presently, over ninety thousands (90,000) students are undergoing training in more than 1,500 technical and vocational programmes across federal and state technical colleges, skills training centres, and accredited Vocational Enterprise Institutions nationwide.
The federal government is also Exploiting international partnerships to support TVET curriculum modernisation, instructor training, and institutional development. For example, Nigeria has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with China and partnered with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) and Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to strengthen training and innovation.
These partnerships are expected to support the train over nine hundred thousands (9,000) young Nigerians within the next two years. And also the federal government also promised to provide starter packs to qualified trainees after each cohort of the programme to enable youths to put their training into immediate practical use.
TVET Batch B registration requirements 2026
- Evidence of existing skills through Acknowledgement of Prior Learning (RPL), including apprenticeship or informal training.
- First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC).
- Any certificate from non formal education such as, NGO training, religious organisations, nomadic education, or community programmes.
TVET Program Batch B deadline 2026
The Several informal social media posts suggest or propose the portal may open in early in this 2026 and that related registration processes could close around the first quarter of the year with some users reporting deadlines like 1-03-2026 for certain registration streams but these are not confirmed by an official government website.
The only widely confirmed official target currently referenced is that Batch B registration will commence in early 2026 (around March).
